Grand Tours of Cycling
The Tour de France which generally begins the first week of July started in 1903 and is the mother of all stage races. It consists of 21 day-long stages over twenty three days and covers over two thousand epic miles of racing.
The third of cycling's prestigious three week Grand Tours begins at the end of August. The race also generally has of at least two time trials and passes through the mountain chain of the Pyrenees with a finish in the Spanish capital Madrid.
